Question: running out of space despite deleting everything

thanks, i did find the files were still there after all. maybe it's just me, but i do find the storage / file structure very confusing, hopefully i'll get used to it

Have you used the process detailed here https://wiki.galaxyproject.org/Admin/Config/Performance/Purge%20Histories%20and%20Datasets. If so you might want to make sure the reason in galaxy with something like tree size.
