Hi,

Currently trying to upload data to galaxy via FTP. I created an account to which I can login but using my FTP client (winscp) to upload the data is unsuccessful and I get the "Access denied" message. I tried to connect via SFTP and FTP to no avail.

Could you let me know how to proceed?

Hello,

SFTP is not supported, but FTP is. Maybe try another client? Filezilla is known to work well. Line command is also an option.

Thanks, Jen, Galaxy team

Hi Jen,

Thanks for your answer but it does not help. I also tried to connect with FTP but when I do Filezilla tells me:

Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...

Response: SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.3

Error: Cannot establish FTP connection to an SFTP server. Please select proper protocol.

Error: Critical error: Could not connect to server

So I am back to square one…

I also tried connecting with a MAC, with same results.

Any idea? Thanks for your help!

Thanks Jen, but it did not help as I had already tried FTP instead of SFTP.

Anyway, it's OK now. On Filezilla it looked like the connection was made with the server but that there was a login or password problem, but actually it was simply a proxy problem.

Solved it by setting up generic proxy type to SOCKS5 and typing in my socks proxy address and port. It may be different for each network you want to connect from.

Thanks for your help.

By they way, Galaxy is just smashing!
