Hi,

This is my first time using Galaxy. I uploaded files from an FTP that were fastq.qz formatted files of 3-4GB in size each, but upon completion of upload, the files were in fastsanger format at rough 16GB a piece. Was there something I missed during the upload? Should I re-upload the files? As of now, my usage is maxed out at 100%. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Aliyah

Hello,

Compressed datasets are automatically uncompressed at upload if the datatype is not specifically set in the Upload tool.

Since your quota is maxed out, you'll need to permanently delete at least some data before doing one of these for all of the new fastq data:

  • Convert to fastqsanger.gz with Edit Attributes (click on each dataset's the pencil icon to Convert the format)
  • Upload again with the datatype set as fastqsanger.gz

Help FAQs for permanently deleting, editing metadata, fastq.gz format, and other common usage questions: https://galaxyproject.org/support/#troubleshooting

If later analysis steps bring you back up to using all of your account quota at any particular Galaxy server, and no more data can be perm deleted since it is still needed, you'll need to consider other Galaxy choices.

Thanks! Jen, Galaxy team
