Hi Do, If you are running a loacl instance and you are admin you can use the data library and upload or even better link your data into a data library. https://wiki.galaxyproject.org/Admin/DataLibraries/UploadingLibraryFil es Cheers, Bjoern

Hello, Björn is exactly right. Link the data to Galaxy as described on the wiki page he posted. If you want to run FTP server with Galaxy (it is not included by default) you have to install and configure it yourself. Here is a wikipage that will show you how to do it. https://wiki.galaxyproject.org/Admin/Config/Upload%20via%20FTP However if you plan to work with such large files on local machine you might easily end up having to wait for a loooooong time, depending on what you plan to do with it and what are specifications of the machine. Consider cloud (https://wiki.galaxyproject.org/CloudMan) or public instance ( usegalaxy.org). Martin

To upload files > 2G without FTP

1. Put files into /var/www/html or any of your web folder.

2. Get the links to the files.

3. Paste links to the upload tool of galaxy. Add a space after the pasted links  if the input file size is zero or none.

4. Upload.

this is correct, if you make your files web accessible Galaxy can fetch it herself

Hi, could you please explain in detail how I can achieve this? I don't know what a web folder is or where to find such a thing. I'm running Windows 7. Thank you!

This solution is good only for specific cases. For uploading to remote Galaxy use FTP and for uploading to local Galaxy use Library import. Both described above.
