Hi,

It is my first time working with Galaxy. I have uploaded around 51 GB on Galaxy. But the storage shows 209.12 GB as used space it says that %83 of my storage is used. I still have another 54 GB data that I would like to upload. Can any body help me why is the difference between the amount of data that I have uploaded and what is shown as used space and how can I fix this problem to upload the rest of my data.

Best

What format was the data you uploaded? 51GB of data should take 51GB of your quota unless the data were zipped and Galaxy unzipped them for you.

edit: also make sure to check: https://galaxyproject.org/learn/managing-datasets/#delete-vs-delete-permanently so you are sure you are understanding your usage correctly

Thank you so much for your quick reply. You are right my files were zipped. So I can not upload rest of my file ? I need to have all of them uploaded. Can you guide me if I can upload the rest?

Do you have an estimate how much space you are going to need for your analysis? Note the following quote from https://galaxyproject.org/support/account-quotas/

If your work is academic research based and additional short-term space is needed at Galaxy Main, please send an email to galaxy-bugs@lists.galaxyproject.org from your registered account explaining your project and we may be able to help.

Hello,

Account quota as set at 250 GB at Galaxy Main (https://usegalaxy.org). Managing data throughout your analysis to stay within quota is how most work at this and other public Galaxy servers. Others choose to move to their own Galaxy server where more resources can be allocated.

That said, under some circumstances, we can allocate more space on Galaxy Main short-term.

For more details about account quotas and the choices for using Galaxy, including how to make a quota increase request, please see:

Thanks! Jen, Galaxy team

Please see the very last bullet point on the FAQ for the criteria (academic research project) and how to send us a request if your project meets that:
