I'm a new user to Galaxy and just now uploaded fastq files of illumina RNAseq via FTP. in my computer each files is about 3 Gb, but when in the Galaxy each one is about 12 Gb. I selected as file type :"fastqsanger" when I uploaded them. Is there a reason the files size increased? Because of that I have already exceeded the storage limitations. Thank you for your help

Hello,

Your data is probably compressed locally but was uncompressed when loaded into Galaxy.

If you want to preserve the compression, assign the datatype fastqsanger.gz within the Upload tool.

Thanks! Jen, Galaxy team
