Dear Sir or Mandam,

I am trying to upload a file greater than 2GB and i found out that this cannot be done with the standard interface of galaxy. I tried to follow the procedure described in https://wiki.galaxyproject.org/FTPUpload to upload the file using an ftp connection. I used the filezilla client program and attempted to perform an sftp connection to the hostname  main.g2.bx.psu.edu on port 21 using the credentials from my account on galaxy. However i still get a connection timeout and cannot upload the file even with this procedure. Could you please provide me some feedback about what am i doing wrong? Has the hostname or port changed or should i use other ftp client software instead of filezilla?

Best regards,

Ianthi Leonti

  • You can quickcheck whether our FTP server runs by visiting ftp://usegalaxy.org/ in your browser
  • Please make sure you are connecting to usegalaxy.org
  • Try connecting via FTP not via SFTP
  • Sometimes there are network limits on the way, try enabling the 'passive' mode of connecting in your client to get around it.
