Hello,

I was trying to upload the RNAseq raw data to a Galaxy local version, but I faced to the following error:

File exceeds 2GB. Please use an FTP client.

The file size is around 5GB.

Why is this happened and how to resolve it. Does it mean to use Galaxy on the Cloud?

Thank you.

Hello,

For loading larger data on a local Galaxy there are two primary options:

  1. Import data into Libraries, then move content into Histories to work with it. Admin/DataLibraries/UploadingLibraryFiles
  2. Set up FTP on your instance to load data directly into Histories. See section 3.8 Admin/Config/Performance/ProductionServer

The first is good for cases where there is a large amount of data, the extra set-up for the second option below is not wanted, or the data will be shared with multiple users (saves disk space as datasets are only cloned into Histories).

Best, Jen, Galaxy team
