I searched but couldn't find anything that matched my exact problem, I apologize if this question has already been asked. I am trying to upload FTP files via FileZilla. When I attempt to connect to the host usegalaxy.org) I receive the following error message:

Error: Critical error

Error: Could not connect to server

I am using RedHat Linux 6.7. I am attempting to use Galaxy as a local instance. After I received the error message I went in the Galaxy config file and created a directory by using my email address that corresponds to my Galaxy account. This seems like it may be the problem, but I'm not sure.

Thanks,

Chuck

I'm sorry I'm still having some issues, I'm new to Linux. Could you give an example of a directory to use in the config file as ftp_upload_dir please?

Thanks again

This can be any directory that the Galaxy user has read/write access to. Create the directory, set permissions, make sure it is the $PATH, then add it to the config file.
