After carefully re-reading the disk quota documentation, I see that datasets in the Data Libraries are not counted in user disk quotas.

I have a shared disk resource for our internal galaxy  users that cannot be increased in size and am getting close to the limit.

Both history data sets and data in libraries are stored in the same file hierarchy.

Is it possible to include data libraries in the disk quota calculations?
Maybe there is some reason that they are not already included... I'd love to understand that before I try to extend the quota logic to include the data libraries.

This volume is 42TB, how are others handling the storage? distributed storage?

Hello Brad,

data libraries were designed as an admin-regulated and maintaned feature and I believe that is the reason why there are no quotas in place for it.

Some ideas to handle the storage load might be to use NFS, to link datasets to the library without copying, or to use Galaxy object store (see the config option object_store and below).

Please let me know if you want more information.

Martin
