Is there a method to archive all a users data?

I know that I can download a tar archive of a data library - but that does not seem very practical.

e.g.

If a user leaves, how can I move their data sets to slower storage, and eventually to off-line storage?

I'd like to do this with older data sets for active users too, but the inactive user case seems simpler.

There isn't really a smooth way to do this right now, but it is a great idea.  We actually already have a trello card https://trello.com/c/vYbFhbd0/218-enhancement-archiving-histories for this feature that you can subscribe to for updates (and vote for the feature), and, while I don't have an ETA, it's definitely something multiple folks are interested in.

Hi Brad,

what about iRODS or btrfs and doing that on a filesystem level. The filesystem should know at its best how often used a file is.

Cheers,
