Question: How to purge histories from local instance galaxy interface

Hi, I would like to know how to purge the deleted histories from galaxy interface. I'm running a local instance of galaxy and after running several analysis, Galaxy indicates I'm "Using ~800GB". I deleted all the histories manually and that didnot help.

I tried to purge using the commands given in this page - https://wiki.galaxyproject.org/Admin/Config/Performance/Purge%20Histories%20and%20Datasets but none of the files were deleted from hard drive.

So I even manually tried to delete all the files from the ../galaxy/database/data/files/* folder which emptied from space in the hardrive. But the galaxy interface still show the Usage is ~800GB. How to reset this? Any suggestions?

OK. They were not marked as permanently deleted since I was not sure how to do that. However, now searching another post, I was able to find that(had to modify galaxy.ini script to turn purge access True) and then permanently delete it.

Ran the clean-up scripts.

Recalculated disk usage

All files deleted correctly.

Deleting files manually might cause problems .. it is better to use the scripts.

Both of those said, what happens if you use the Admin -> Users -> Search for your account -> click to "recalculate disk usage" function (in the UI)? Any changes?
