Question: Deleted datasets did not reduce account disk quota usage

Hi, I've deleted old histories and files from my account, but that didn't seem to affect the % of space I'm using. Is there something else I should be doing to delete old files to give myself more room? Thanks, Amy

Make sure you "purge" them in addition to deleting them.

Hi If this is your galaxy instance (and not usegalaxy.org) you need to make sure that you have permission to 'purge'. To do this, in your config/galaxy.ini file you need to remove the # beginning from the following line.

allow_user_dataset_purge = True

I recalculated disk usage for your account at http://usegalaxy.org. It did not change - usage is at 138.7 GB.

Guy and Devon are both correct - purging (permanently deleting) is required to free up disk space. If at Galaxy Main, then just follow the help in the wiki link below. If on your own local, do the admin change Guy suggests first, restart the server, then follow the same wiki help.

Thanks for your help! I'm on the main Galaxy instance so I had to "delete permanently". This seems to have increased my space available. Thanks, Amy
