I'm trying to upload a 9KB .txt file on the Galaxy web application but the job keeps waiting to run (i.e. the job status remains grey). I've waited overnight and it still hasn't changed the status or uploaded. Is anyone else experiencing this or have a suggestion on what to do?

Thanks,

Jennifer

It took several hours, but my jobs finally ran. I guess there must be a long line or their server is currently slow.

My jobs seem to be running and uploading okay for what it's worth. I've occasionally had files just seem to get lost in the processing queue. Not sure why. You might want to try re-uploading the file, see if it goes through this time. Don't delete the greyed out file just yet - just in case it really is in some really long queue in which case you don't want to delete it and have to go to the back again.

Good luck.

Good advice from Zachary.

This help will be true for any Galaxy server, especially those that are public. In short, job queue times can vary. https://wiki.galaxyproject.org/Support#Dataset_status_and_how_jobs_execute

Hi there, I have the same problem as Jennifer. I uploaded a 0.2 MB file to Galaxy LEfSe and after several hours of grey status ('this job is waiting to run') it failed with the message 'An error occurred while getting updates from the server. Please contact a Galaxy administrator if the problem persists'. This happened today with another file also, while I never had issues before. Any advice/help would be highly appreciated. Thanks, Sonja

Please re-run the job. If problems do persist, contacting the owners of this public Galaxy instance is the next step. They can explain what is going on. Likely the server is busy, but you can double check if repeated reruns fail over a day or more.

Each Galaxy is run by a different group. Contact information can generally be found on the home page of the instance or in this list: https://wiki.galaxyproject.org/PublicGalaxyServers

Thanks, Jen, Galaxy team
