Hello all,

I would like to know if the ftp upload option is still available in the new Galaxy interface. I've noticed that you changed the way to upload files and I'm not finding the ftp option. Thanks

Cheers

This option doesn't appear for me. I'm trying to configure the ftp for upload in our local Galaxy and I already set the path ('ftp_upload_dir = ../database/ftp') in the config/universe_wsgi.ini but still nothing. And this option is also not appearing in the main Galaxy (https://usegalaxy.org/).

I think that config/universe_wsgi.ini is not being checked for values, because it should be config/galaxy.ini
Try renaming it.

Yes it is still available in the new upload window. It is called "Choose FTP file" at the bottom ob this small nice popup window.

Hello,

I updated the data upload section of our Support wiki to show in more detail the steps for FTP data loading and what the tool in the user interface looks like (including the appropriate buttons to use).

Please see the section "Get Data → Upload tool used with FTP":
http://wiki.galaxyproject.org/Support#Loading_data

Hopefully this helps to understand what the option looks like and the operations you will need. Martin's suggestion for your local is still valid. I am wondering if you need to update to the most current distribution if there is a universe_wgsi.ini file in use (although both may be around if the full upgrade instructions were not followed when this configuration file was changed a few releases ago). Information about the distributions can be found here. Each News Brief has instructions about upgrading, including detailed instructions if upgrading from a much older version:

Hi Jen,

When I got this Galaxy, I just did 'hg update stable' after clone. Won't this bring me the last update already?

I've changed the name of galaxy.ini to universe_wsgi.ini because when the file is named galaxy.ini I got some bugs in the welcome page of Galaxy, and I'm not figuring out how to fix it (and I don't even know why this is happening).

Hi,

There are some detailed instructions for upgrading Galaxy in the News Briefs - the command is a bit different than it was before, see here:
http://wiki.galaxyproject.org/DevNewsBriefs

You do need to use the config file name galaxy.ini or will have likely problems. See the Oct 2015 distribution notes above or more in the "Admin" section of our wiki.

If you still have problems after doing the update by the instructions (and restarting), these are best resolved as individual specific issues with a new question/post. You can ask here, or sometimes when it is better to reach all of the development community, use the list: galaxy-dev@lists.galaxyproject.org

Take care, Jen, Galaxy team
