Question: Galaxy + Postgres backup script ?

Hi all !
What is a good strategy to backup a production server running Galaxy with 2 Postgres databases (1 for workflows and the other for tool shed).
I am now backing up the main installation directory, shed_tools dir, galaxy_data and reference_files. Separately I'm also backing up the Postgres databases.
However .... are there any best practices that anyone could share, or perhaps a script that can help automate the entire backup process? For instance, do I need to run some clean up scripts prior to backup so I don't backup deleted datasets?
Any advice or suggestions will be appreciated.
