Hi

I would like to know if it possible to for an administartor to specify (presumably in some config file) that when a user presses the download button, the file is not downloaded to the hard drive they are currently working on to a folder on the same server.

This would be really useful for our users. I know there are export options and wget commands but we find this unreliable with very large files- for reasons which are not clear to us. Cheers

Thanks .Yes a suppose a it would be a reverse FTP. Can I ask, when you select the' export history to file' where is the file actually generated? I think as files become bigger and bigger the users hard drive looks less and less attractive to download to.

Unfortunately tool development is beyond me .

Thanks

Guy

@Martin or anybody else who can point me in the right direction.

We are thinking about adapting this tool ‘bundle_collections’ but have no idea how to make a galaxy tool point outside itself. do you have any idea how we might do this? Thanks Guy

I would try asking the IUC at gitter.im/galaxy-iuc/iuc or their repo https://github.com/galaxyproject/tools-iuc/

Those are some of the best tool devs, they will know better than myself.

Do you mean something like a reverse FTP/library import? I do not think we have such thing readily configurable.

You could write a custom Galaxy tool for this I think. (Or add this feature to Galaxy obviously.)

Update nothing came of the tool request and the tool mentioned above looks perfect but there is no help about how to use it ( I did contact the author a few times about writing a very short description of how to set up the tool) https://toolshed.g2.bx.psu.edu/view/earlhaminst/export_to_cluster/

I continue to use https://toolshed.g2.bx.psu.edu/repository?repository_id=d077871367f67b47

Which works well. But it will not work if you have '/' in your dataset names and probably spaces would be a problem.

Hope this is useful to someone. Cheers
