Hello, I got strucked to upload my RNAseq data(fastq format, 873Mb) by using menu "upload file from your computer" . I entered the popup interface by clicking the menu "upload file from your computer", and then I clicked on "choose local file" to choose my local file in my computer. After that, I waited for hours to find that the upload status didn't change for a little bit. Finally, the system told me I failed in uploading the data by saying "upload request failed.(0)". What could be the problem?

Just to clarify - when you choose the file, you click Start and your upload form ends up looking like this:

Galaxy upload form

I.e. the bar goes to 100% green and it briefly says "Adding to history". Does this happen?

Hello Peter,

The status bar remained blank when it was running, and there was no tick symbol showing besides the status bar . But finally I could see a warning message in the original place of the status bar showing "upload request failed.(0)" .

I am looking forward to your reply!

Best wishes

More questions: is this one usegalaxy.org or another server?

And finally, after selecting the files, did you see a page like this:

Galaxy upload, Start not pressed

If you do, have you hit the Start button after selecting the files you want to upload?

If you have hit Start and it stays blank, it suggests that the Galaxy server has not responded to the request sent by the upload form. Some time back the upload form got implemented in Javascript, and I have seen behaviour like what you describe when there has been an incomplete update of a Galaxy server: i.e. the upload form is in Javascript but the backend has not changed (it is the old form of upload).

I have hit Start, so I guess it was the matter Galaxy server. Maybe I have to seek other methods to analyze RNA-seq data.

Anyway, thank you very much!

If you see this behaviour on your Galaxy server (not usegalaxy.org):

  1. You choose to upload files, and see the following page:

Galaxy upload, Start not pressed

  1. You hit start but it never gets to a page like this, with the bar all Green and the message "Adding to history":

Galaxy upload successful

  1. And finally it gives a message "upload request failed".

Then it suggests that the Galaxy server has not responded to the request sent by the upload form. This is caused by an incorrectly configured Galaxy server, and you should report the problem to your server admin. Specifically, this behaviour means that the upload form sends a message to the Galaxy server (using the Galaxy API) and that message is not acknowledged, perhaps due to an old version of Galaxy server installation.

Thanks a lot! I will contact with the server admin.
