Hello,

I am working with ChIPseq with Histone marks on chicken (Gal/Gal4). I generated a bigwig file using the "bamcompare" tool in deepTools2 and now I want to upload it in UCSC. Nevertheless, I should give a header to the bigwig to upload it in UCSC, which I cannot do as Bigwig files are binary, or at least that's what a fellow bioinformatitian told me.

Can anybody help me?

Thanks for your attention,

Marc

Hello,

Bigwig files are never really "uploaded" to UCSC in entirety, rather portions of the data are sent from one server to another. A custom track line is added at the step when this transfer is first initiated. The help page at UCSC for the datatype describes the complete process line-command but the final step is the same whether the data host server is Galaxy or not: http://genome.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/help/bigWig.html

Thanks, Jen, Galaxy team
