Hi, I'm trying to upload some large reference files to my galaxy localhost, but i can't figure out how. I've tried to upload using FileZilla but it could connect to my localhost, do I need to do any configuration before connecting? And is there another way for me do this?
Hi Marc,
Galaxy outsources it's FTP integration, so unless you've set up FTP like here: https://wiki.galaxyproject.org/Admin/Config/UploadviaFTP, you'll want to pursue another method.
For very large resource files, one thing I'd suggest is maybe to upload via filepath (which is a direct import, and bypasses the webserver), which is detailed here: https://wiki.galaxyproject.org/Admin/DataLibraries/UploadingLibraryFiles
Since it's a local galaxy, you'll can just make yourself an admin user, create a data library, and use it for these large references with the direct *much faster* import detailed here.
Hi Dannon,
I've tried your way, the thing is I'm trying to upload a 10.8G reference file and in the "Upload files to a data library
" page I only got two options, one is upload files and the other one is import from history. I have to choose the upload files option and it has been taking forever. The message column does say "This dataset is uploading", but I don't know if that's working properly.
BTW, this is the error message from FileZilla
Status: Resolving address of localhost
Status: Connecting to 127.0.0.1:8080...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Error: Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity
Error: Could not connect to server
