Hello Everyone, my colleague is having trouble renaming files in galaxy.

He clicks the pencil button then adds a phrase at the end of the galaxy-generated name

ex. Join on data 64 and data 79

changed to: Join on data 64 and data 79 mut1

Then he clicks the save attributes button and gets and error

"Error occured while saving. Please fill all the required fields and try again."

This is occurring for every file he tries to rename.
I tried to rename a file on my galaxy account and it worked just fine. I don't know what the issue is but he's really trying to crank through some analysis for his dissertation and this is causing a lot of strife. Any ideas?

Hello,

The output format for this tool can be inherited from the input's datatype (for example bed) or assigned by the tool as interval. I suspect that the dataset's current content/assigned datatype does not include the required data columns or have the required metadata attributes assigned the to the columns (chrom, start, end, strand, etc). They may need to pick another datatype assignment or adjust the content to match the current/target datatype. Once that is done, the dataset's name can be changed and the dataset will work better with downstream tools.

Datatypes FAQ. Interval and Bed are very similar, with Bed being more strict in the column ordering: https://galaxyproject.org/learn/datatypes/

This prior Q&A covers how another user was able to resolve the content and attributes for an assigned datatype and may help as an example: https://biostar.usegalaxy.org/p/25056/

(Note: this issue is different from a known issue with the other Join tool, which will need to have the datatype specifically assigned as tabular due to a bug we are working on: https://github.com/galaxyproject/usegalaxy-playbook/issues/46).

Hope that helps! Jen, Galaxy team
