I'm trying to use the newer launcher of Galaxy Cloudman. After I set everything up (memory size, storage size, virtual hardware, etc.) and press Launch, it goes to the My Applications screen and each time has the following error.
FAILURE Invalid name: CloudLaunch. Name must be at most 63 characters long and consist of lowercase letters, numbers, underscores, dashes or international characters
This does not seem to be caused by my naming, as it follows the rules, and the default generated server name fails as well. The old CloudLaunch system works for me, but I would like to use it with Galaxy 17.05, as something is broken with RNA STAR when using it in Galaxy 16.10 (it thinks all fastq files are gzipped for some reason). Does anyone know what might be causing this and is there an image that has 17.05 that works with the old launcher?
I don't see any errors in the launch logs other than the name one you mentioned and by just using the default name, a Galaxy 17.05 instance launches fine for me. Can you perhaps open the browser console (
cmd+option+i
on a Mac with Chrome) and see if there are any error reported there? There's no error reported there. The following warning is posted. I am using Chrome, but it also doesn't work in Safari.
DevTools failed to parse SourceMap: https://beta.launch.usegalaxy.org/assets/css/bootstrap-material-design.css.map
The SourceMap is just for the Chrome console and doesn't affect the functionality of the launcher. So what is the behavior you're experiencing now when trying to launch an instance?
The same error. When I click launch, it says pending for a few seconds and then turns red and says:
FAILURE Invalid name: CloudLaunch. Name must be at most 63 characters long and consist of lowercase letters, numbers, underscores, dashes or international characters.
I am receiving the same error trying to set up for the first time, I am using Chrome and there is definitely not a visible problem in the name
Can you try now please? I think I found the issue - it was a configuration option hence not very readily findable.
Hi, thanks for the super quick reply! I tried again and did not receive any Invalid name error. It successfully launched! Thank you
Actually it says "success" but the URL generated is http://None/cloud
Did it take ~15 minutes for the (bad) URL to show up? If so, try again now. There was a type issue with a recent upgrade but should be fixed now.
Yes it took about 20 minutes to show up. Will try again. Thank you
It works for me now too! Thanks!
