Hello,

I am using a Cloudman 17.05 instance and attempting to install the QIIME set of packages. I get the following error:

tool_shed.util.hg_util DEBUG 2017-11-15 13:47:47,726 Error cloning repository: signal only works in main thread

Does anyone know of a workaround?

Thanks,

Hok Hei

Hi -

Are you installing the latest QIIME suite from the Main Tool Shed using the Admin GUI methods? If not, try that. The tools were updated Aug 2017, which means they were tested against Galaxy version 17.05 (at a minimum).

QIIME in the MTS

If you have problems, the tool authors (IUC) can probably help debug. The chat channel here is faster then sending them a message through the Tool Shed: https://gitter.im/galaxy-iuc/iuc

They may ask you to clarify and/or open an issue ticket against the repo, but check in first, as there may be a known issue or workaround. And if not, and this is a true problem with the dependency installation, they will want to confirm and get that fixed.

Hope that helps! Jen, Galaxy team

Small update: This was brought up in July on the galaxyproject IRC/Gitter channel, but I don't see a reply there nor a ticket about it. Using the IUC channel is a more direct route to the tool authors. https://botbot.me/freenode/galaxyproject/2017-07-06/?page=1&msg2=

Ok, good, that helps to clarify. Write the IUC about the problem since they wrote/own the repository and know it best. Contacting the tool authors is how to resolve most tool install problems when using a recent Galaxy build and their tool from the MTS. This tool author group happens to have a help channel, so that makes contact quicker.
