Question: 530 Login incorrect: ftp password declined

I can log in into the web interface, but get Login incorrect error in all supported ftp possibilities and various ftp clients as the password declined

It is apparently the same trouble in in closed ticket https://biostar.usegalaxy.org/p/24640/ Although it should not be related to https://biostar.usegalaxy.org/p/24618/ since the ftp connection in my case and in 24640 does go though the firewall, only the password is declined.

I am uploading files via the web interface, but it is VERY SLOW. I have hoped that n the ftp upload would work better, but it doesn't.work at all :-(

Yes, FTP is known to be problematic right now. We are still working on the correction. Follow the post you mention for updates (https://biostar.usegalaxy.org/p/24618/ ). This is a priority correction and we expect it to be resolved soon.

Files still must be < 2 GB to use the "browser upload" method. To load larger files right now, or if browser upload is slow for even smaller data, one workaround is to place the data in a publically accessible location and load via URL. Upload options FAQ

Thanks for reporting the issue. Your description is exactly how the service is currently failing in our internal tests as well.
