Dear all,

I got a problem in becoming an admin to run my own galaxy. I have tried:

  1. the guideline on https://wiki.galaxyproject.org/Admin/GetGalaxy which need to change the admin_users in config/galaxy.ini.
  2. the troubleshooting from https://wiki.galaxyproject.org/Admin/UserAccounts which need me to fill in the smtp, email activation, and so on.

But, when I log into  http://127.0.0.1:8080, I still cannot find out the "admin" tab.

Did I miss sth? I hope somebody can help me with this problem.

Thank you in advance.

Tania

Could you show the exact line in your galaxy.ini file that states the admin users?

Thanks for your reply. I have found out the problem.
It is because I still put # in front of admin_users in galaxy.ini
It worked now. =)

after changing the config.ini you also need to restart Galaxy

Hello,

I just ran a double check on the current 15.07 release and the instructions at http://getgalaxy.org work. If you have adjusted the galaxy.ini, restarted (as advised above), and are still having problems, double check that the email added to galaxy.ini is an exact match for the Galaxy account you are logging into your server with (and wish to use as admin). Any difference will cause problems.

Thanks, Jen, Galaxy team
