I have been using Galaxy to format and analyze NGS data for the last few months and it has been working beautifully. Recently however it has been running very slowly. Jobs like converting fastq -> fasta take hours and running a lastz can take days if not weeks. Just a few months ago it was running much faster. So my question is why is this happening? Is it something I am doing wrong on my end? Is the site experiencing more traffic? Can I change anything to make it run more quickly.

I really appreciate this free website and it has been a great help with my research.

Thanks,

-Kalen

Are your jobs turning yellow and it takes a long to turn green, or does it take a long time until it turns yellow?

They take a long time to turn yellow, it just says 'waiting to run'.

Hi,

grey datasets, waiting for turning yellow, means that your job is waiting to be started. It is not started yet. This means usually that the Galaxy server is under high load... to many enthusiastic Galaxy users :)

It's not your fault and you can not do much about this. You can always ask your IT department to get you an own Galaxy instance if you like :)

Cheers,

Bjoern
