I was wondering if there is a way that I can run or edit published workflows containing not installed tools on galaxy servers that publicly accessible to anyone.

To share my developments with others, for example, I made one of my workflows visible to everyone via 'Share or Publish Workflow' option on usegalaxy.org and uploaded my tools to the Tool Shed. I noticed that the workflow is not executable on usegalaxy.org due to unrecognized tools. I understand that my tools that used in the workflow are registered to the Tool Shed but not installed on usegalaxy.org. Is it only possible if the administrator installs the tools on usegalaxy.org?

It appeals to me that I have to provide an own galaxy server including all required tools so that people who interested in my work can run or edit my workflows on galaxy.

What would you recommend?

Hi,

only the administrator is allowed to install tools and workflows. I would recommend to put your workflows also into the toolshed + repository_dependencies. Additionally you can upload your workflow to myexperiment and advertise them.

But in the end your users need a running Galaxy instance with your tools. If that is to complicated there is a new possibility to use Galaxy inside a docker container and provide your tools with docker. For more information’s please see:
