There's a percentage on my page (currently 53%).  I've deleted a bunch of things in my history, but it keeps going up.

Anybody know what that number is tied too?

Thanks!

Hello,

How much of your user quota is in use can be found under "User -> Preferences". The disk quota for usegalaxy.org is documented in our wiki here: http://wiki.galaxyproject.org/Main#User_data_and_job_quotas.

If you are using another public Galaxy server, contact that site's support to learn about their quotas (if not published on the central default landing page - a common place for this type of information). You can also look here: https://wiki.galaxyproject.org/PublicGalaxyServers

To make room for new analysis, download to save work that is no longer needed and then permanently delete the data. This wiki and video explains how: http://wiki.galaxyproject.org/Learn/ManagingDatasets#Delete_vs_Delete_Permanently

I have been deleting individual data sets, and then using the purge deleted data sets.  When I use the show deleted data sets option, only the data sets that I want show up and none of the ones that I have deleted and then purged.  Showing the hidden data sets has the same effect, and I've deleted hidden data sets, and the purged the deleted files.  Based on what I can see in the history panel I do not appear to have any deleted or hidden data sets.

When I look at my saved histories, I only see my current (unnamed) history.  According to that page, I am using 63 GB.  This matches what my history panels shows with deleted and hidden datasets shown (of which I have none).

However, my percent bar says I'm using 70% of my space.  Despite the fact that I've deleted and then purged data sets and they do not show up in my data set lists, do I still have data sets that are counting towards my memory usage?

Is there a way to get rid of them without deleting things that I want in the same history?

Thanks!

Hi Peter,

This is at usegalaxy.org? Different Galaxy servers have different quotas.

Is so, and you just did this, then give it some time update. Check under "User -> Preferences" to see your actual total usage. It is not uncommon to see what appears to be a discrepancy between the size of the data vs percent used right after changes - but this will resolve into the correct value as the data is removed (server side). Usually a few minutes, then refresh the connection, but it can take up to a few hours under peak use times.

Data that is unaccounted for is almost always "deleted" but not "permanently deleted". All deleted data (even "permanently deleted" or purged) will display when "View Deleted Datasets" is used from the history menu, so I am not sure why yours are not, but I may be misunderstanding. A fraction of your shared histories will could toward your quota, so look under the history menu "Histories Shared with Me" and remove any not needed.

If all else fails, you can send your accounts email address to galaxy-bugs@bx.psu.edu and we can take a look.

Thanks! Jen, Galaxy team
