Hi,

I am new to using Galaxy, I am wondering if the functionality that is being used for the data analysis of the genomic data could be used across different data sets. I know the export of the data from galaxy could be used in conjunction with python or R, but I guess my question would be would be it be able to incorporate other datasets like IHC. Again I am very new to this and am just posing this as a question.

Thanks,

Galaxy is aiming to be domain agnostic. It is still a bit oriented on applications in biology but if you ignore few quirks here and there the core will support many other kinds of analyses. For example there is natural language processing public Galaxy instance (https://galaxyproject.org/public-galaxy-servers/lapps-grid/) and social sciences Galaxy (https://galaxyproject.org/public-galaxy-servers/cossci/).

The limitation is the tool availability. I don't know what tools/software IHC uses but you can check for their Galaxy's wrapper in https://toolshed.g2.bx.psu.edu/

If the tool is not there, it is still pretty easy to wrap it yourself (this is how) and it is even easier if the software is already packaged in https://bioconda.github.io/

Let us know if you have more questions.
