Hi, I feel super stupid having to ask this, but I cloned the latest version of Galaxy on MacOS High Sierra, registered for an account, then made a copy of the sample config file and modified the config/galaxy.yml at admin_users to add my username (I already deleted the #). After restarting Galaxy and logging in, I still do not see the admin panel. I restarted a few more times and tried clearing browser cache, but still cannot get admin panel to show up. This was not a problem with previous versions of Galaxy I worked with when galaxy.ini was still in use. Please let me know if I'm doing something wrong. I know it was supposed to be straightforward, but I somehow can't get it to work for me.

Thank you!

Are you still stuck with this? If so, have you left the indentation of the admin_users: peerah@gmail.com line intact, i.e., did you only remove the # or also the whitespace in front of it (which you shouldn't)?

It shouldn't be your username, it should be your email address.

Hi, sorry I wasn’t clear. I meant I had entered my email address I registered with. Still didn’t work. :(

Can you show me the entry in the config/galaxy.yml file?

Hi,

I only modified one line in the file as follows

admin_users: peerah@gmail.com

(I also removed the # at the beginning of the line)

I have already registered the email with a password prior to modification of this line. I restarted the instance, tried logging in and out, and still did not work.

Thank you!

I am fairly confident this is a configuration issue on your side, since this is the only report we got regarding this. Are you sure you have only one Galaxy instance running? Do you see any errors if you open browser's javascript console? If you change some other value in the config, can you see its effects on your instance?

Just to confirm:

  • Your Galaxy version is 18.05 and you have checked with git to make sure it is current with any post-release patches? https://docs.galaxyproject.org/en/master/releases/index.html

  • The email address added to the .yml is an exact match for the email address used to created the account in the GUI?

  • You have tried logging out/logging back into the GUI (shouldn't be necessary, so curious if that works, let us know)

Yup, I just cloned 18.05 directly from git. Email perfectly matches what I had registered in the GUI. I tried starting/stopping the instance and logging in and out a few times. Still no luck.
