We've a Galaxy setup wich verify the user credentials by OpenLDAP. We had chosen "real" usernames instead of "email addresses" to be compliant with other services. Everything works great but we've a problem to find a solution for the FTP upload workflow.

By the first login, proftpd creates the FTP-Home if needed:

...
LDAPGenerateHomedirPrefix "/opt/galaxy/database/ftp/%u"
...

But the Galaxy Import-Assistant is looking for the "Email-Username" and is missing the FTP home. It's not possible to extend the homedir prefix with a domain like those examples because our user are having different mail domains.

Is there any configuration option existent to change Galaxys behavior? I'm grateful for any advice.

Best, René

Could you leverage this config option - ftp_upload_dir_identifier?
