Hi,

I am trying to connect to galaxy FTP server using FileZilla.

And I am using Encryption method as "Require FTP over TLS". The connection fails at TLS initialization stage.

Could you please suggest.

Hello,

Your data seems to be exceeding the 50 GB size limit (25-35 GB for BAM data).

Options are explained here:

Hopefully, that helps! Jen, Galaxy team

Hi Jen (and Shruti),

I am experiencing problems with the FTP connection as well (I am using the ClassicFTP client).

When logging on to usegalaxy.org with my username and password I experience no issues.

But when I try to connect with the FTP client with the same username and password, I get following message: "Server usegalaxy is OK, Unable to log on with username @. or entered password". I tried to log on directly to ftp://usegalaxy.org/ and it comes up with the same message.

I tried to change my password, but that did not solve the issue.

The file I currently want to upload is 4 GB and the FTP settings are as follows: FTP server: usegalaxy.org Username: my usegalaxy.org username Password: my usegalaxy.org password Secure FTP: use standard FTP Port: empty/default

Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

Thanks!

Cheers, Birgitte

Hello,

The "SecureFTP" protocol is also termed SFTP which is not supported. You want to use FTPS instead (or just default/passive FTP settings, the usegalaxy.org server will handle the secure connection, although you will need to accept the security certificate). Also be sure to use the email associated with your account as the FTP "username".

To understand the difference between SFTP and FTPS, please see the video linked here: https://galaxyproject.org/ftp-upload/#upload-from-client

Please make the needed changes and try again.

Thanks, Jen, Galaxy team
