Question: Who created Galaxy and when?

Hello, everyone! I am a biology student and I'm doing a work on Galaxy. I have to explain how it works, it's importance in our scientific community and papers where galaxy was used to take conclusions out of data sets. So far so good but I need to use some historical information such as who created galaxy project, when was it created. Can anyone help me? Sincerely, Rosalina Ferreira

Afaik Galaxy started as one big Perl script and was continuously refactored, re-visioned, re-architectured, and updated ever since. The consistency of the initial team can be derived from the authorlist on the early papers.
