Hi

I would like to know if there an easy way to delete all datasets with a particular tag from all histories?

I can of course view all datasets with a particular tag by searching on  the User> saved datasets page.  However I cannot see how to delete selected datasets en mass.

Do you know a way I could do this without having to go into each history separately ?

I have set up a workflow which places tags on intermediate files I do not want to keep, helping me manage my disk usage.

Thanks Guy

PS I know I could use the 'Delete Non-Output Completed Intermediate Steps' on a step in the work flow, but I have been unable to get this to work (whatever step I place it on).

HI

The answer from martin below is great but I wondered.

is it correct that the  'Delete Non-Output Completed Intermediate Steps'  command is not functional at the moment?

(might be an idea to add delete button to the page   'https://usegalaxy.org/dataset/list?use_panels=True' if it is not too difficult)

Thanks Guy

This functionality should be working correctly.  Can you share the workflow you're using with me?

HI

I have tried placing  'Delete Non-Output Completed Intermediate Steps'   on a number of diffrent workflows. On most it causes an error and does not delete intermediate steps (though 'snowflakes' are used) ..

On this  simple workflow it does not generate an error but it does not  delete the hidden intermediate steps (though 'snowflakes' are used) .

The command is on the last step 'plotting tool'

Could I ask if which step the command is in the workflow is important, or will any step do regardless of placement?  I cannot find any help or documentation on this command

Thanks Guy

I have created a trello card to track this bug report.

There is a way how to do it for one history. If you need to traverse all your histories you either have to switch to them manually or use API and write a script.

Manual way:

  1. Tag your datasets with 'mytag'.
  2. Search the history with 'tag=mytag'.
  3. Select operations on multiple datasets.
  4. Hit 'All'.
  5. Hit 'For all selected...'
  6. 'Delete datasets.

You can master histories by learning from the following page: https://wiki.galaxyproject.org/Histories

Thank you for using Galaxy

Thanks Martin.  I your suggestion was really helpful

I followed your sequence  with a slight modification. In the /history/view_multiple window.

1 'Switch to' history

2 The tagged datasets I want are hidden so I unhide them my clicking 'hidden' in the blue top part.

3 I search for the tag in the white prompt , in the blue top part.

4Select operations on multiple datasets.

5Hit 'All'.

6Hit 'For all selected...'

7'Delete datasets.

This way I can stay in the '/history/view_multiple 'window and quickly delete in multiple windows.
