Dear All,

I would like to install Galaxy on my university server. I would like to know pitfalls or best practices for installing Galaxy. I have read about the database needs to be changed to MySql or Postgresql. But I would like to hear from people's experience. I want to know where does it stores the data files, temporary files etc.

I would like you to share your thoughts on this.

In addition to the basics (https://wiki.galaxyproject.org/Admin/GetGalaxy and https://wiki.galaxyproject.org/Admin/Config/Performance/ProductionServer) you can check out the community written deployment logs: https://wiki.galaxyproject.org/Community/Logs

By default the datasets are stored in the /database folder within the Galaxy root but as with a lot of things in Galaxy you can configure it.
