I uploaded fastq.gz files, each around 3 Gigabytes. I used ftp to upload. However, when I try to add to my project, the file turns Red and not green. When I load as uncompressed fastq file, it works fine and turns green. However, FTPing non-compressed files takes forever. any advice?

thanks, David

Hello,

Where are you working? On the public Main instance (http://usegalaxy.org) or in a local/cloud?

If on Main, double check that the FTP load was complete and that you can uncompress the files locally (that wasn't clear in your question).

If a local/cloud, we'll need more information about the error to help.

Thanks, Jen, Galaxy team

<html> <head> <meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="Content-Type"> </head> <body bgcolor="#FFFFFF" text="#000000"> I was on (http://usegalaxy.org). The ftp load seemed complete (correct size file uploaded and my Command terminal gave me a message that the transfer was complete). I think it may have something to do with the compression program I used locally (WinZip). I now downloaded the .gz files directly from the server of our NGS site to the galaxy website by copying and pasting  (i.e. without the intermediate step on my local computer), it worked fine.

thanks, david
