I am having problem with Galaxy install.

As i have installed Galaxy using git install procedure, it is automatically installed in /home/user/galaxy. but my problem is with the harddisk in which the ubuntu is installed is only 512GB in size.

Now i would like to transfer the installation to another harddisc which is having 8TB in size and mount on "/data" path.

SO how can i migrate this installation to /data/galaxy or else installing the new Galaxy using git to other location.

Hello,

The git command to download Galaxy should work from any file system/path that you have permission to write to. Meaning: you can decide where to download and install Galaxy.

If this is a new instance, and you do not want or need to set up a more complex server (advanced configuration) starting over would be the simplest way forward.

Or if you instead want to set up the environment in a custom way (set up specific, different places to put data, run jobs, etc), then please see the help here for advanced configuration: https://docs.galaxyproject.org/en/master/admin/index.html. Even more help for specific tasks can be found in our admin training materials here: https://github.com/galaxyproject/dagobah-training

Or if you have a server that has been running a while and losing that work would create a problem, the final option is actually move the server base location. This involves some technical steps -- so administrator help on your side would be good (unless you are the admin :).

This is one discussion about the topic: http://dev.list.galaxyproject.org/moving-galaxy-instance-to-different-location-td4663076.html. Others can be reviewed using the search here https://galaxyproject.org/search/#gsc.tab=0 with keywords like "move galaxy server".

Hope that helps! Jen, Galaxy team
