Hi, I'd just like to inform you that the upload via FTP server is currently not working. It stopped working after yesterday's shut down for maintenance (18th-19th July 2017). I am using FileZilla and the connection fails at the "retrieving directory listings.." step. I hope this is useful.

Many thanks, Eli

Hello,

Please try again as testing shows that this is working. Relaunch Filezilla and accept the new secure transfer certificate upon connection. FTPS was implemented yesterday for all file transfers however just using FTP at default is still an optional setting (files will be transferred in secure mode regardless). SFTP remains unsupported, FTPS was enabled instead.

See here for details, including a video:

Thanks! Jen, Galaxy team

Hi Jen,

I tried to do as you said but it's still not working. The issue is always "retrieving directory listings". I tried connecting with FileZilla from a different computer (Mac instead of Windows) and from a different internet network (my home instead of my workplace) and it's working. Unfortunately my internet connection is extremely slow so the upload will take several days from here. This is why I would need to do it from my workplace (University of Nottingham). I have also tried to load the files using my workplace's computer but connecting it to my phone (as hotspot) and it worked!

Until before the maintenance of the usegalaxy.org site the upload with FileZilla was working. Is it possible that some change tat was made is now not being recognised by the network and so the connection is being blocked? Could this have something to do with the port used? Do you know how I can solve this issue?

Many thanks for your help, Eli

Hi Jen,

I have the same question and I have tried loggin by FileZilla or WINSCP, the server response always showed "retrieving directory listings"...

I also followed the instruction located in "https://galaxyproject.org/ftp-upload/#upload-from-client", but it is still useless.....

Please help me! Thanks a lot!!
