Hi,

I'm trying to ftp files from my computer onto galaxy using a cloudman instance. When I enter my ec2... address as the host (ftp protocol) I get the following error:

Status:    Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Status:    Insecure server, it does not support FTP over TLS.
Status:    Server does not support non-ASCII characters.
Status:    Connected
Status:    Retrieving directory listing...
Command:    PWD
Response:    257 "/" is the current directory
Command:    TYPE I
Response:    200 Type set to I
Command:    PASV
Error:    Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity
Error:    Failed to retrieve directory listing

I've tried changing the protocol, but nothing works. FYI, I'm just learning how to use this set-up, not savvy with command-line (hence the draw to the galaxy cloudman interface). I've seen similar questions but few reported resolutions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

carrie

Hello,

When using FTP on Cloudman, do the following:

  1. server name: enter just the IP address of the instance (leave off the http:// portion)
  2. user name: email address for an account created on the instance
  3. pass: same password as used for accessing the above account through the user interface

I just tested this on a cloud instance using Filezilla with no issues, but please let us know if you continue to have problems.

Best, Jen, Galaxy team
