Hi,

This is my first time using Galax, I'm trying to download data from EBI-SRA.  I got the error "The remote data source application may be off line, please try again later. Error: [Errno ftp error] [Errno 111] Connection refused"

Is there any chance that I need to change my settings to allow galaxy to work?

Dannon was correct.  I received the same error message.  The site is back up and you should be able to download he file now.

Thanks for the help. I lost patience and downloaded the sequences from other sources.

Sorry that this was so problematic for you. I just double checked again on the public Main Galaxy instance at http://usegalaxy.org, and loading directly from their FTP site by URL and using the links within the 'Get Data -> SRA EBI' tool under "Fastq files (galaxy)" are working for a test case (not small).

thanks! Jen, Galaxy team

Thanks, they were doing site maintenance last week. Over the weekend I was able to use the link very easily.

It looks like this might be a temporary issue on the EBI end.  See http://www.ebi.ac.uk/ena/about/read-download-downtime for more details, but I'd recommend just waiting and trying again.

Are you able to download the file in question directly to your computer?
