Is there an easy way to change the name of a tool in the tool_conf.xml? without actually renaming it in its XML wrapper. This is only for visualisation purposes in the tool panel. I tried

 name="xxx"

inside tool_conf.xml but didn't seems to work!

Hello,

That is the correct variable. But it may be written over by other configuration files due to ordering or you might just need to restart to see the change.

This help covers how to configure the tool panel: https://galaxyproject.org/admin/tool-panel/

Hope that helps, Jen, Galaxy team

Thank you for quick reply, Tried adding to e.g:

<section id="EncodeTools" name="ENCODE Tools" version=""> <tool id="gencode_partition1"/> <tool id="random_intervals1"/> </section> <section id="EncodeTools" name="ENCODE Tools" version=""> <tool id="gencode_partition1"/> <tool id="random_intervals1" name="“A" different="" name”=""/> </section>

And restart it, still the same. I will check other configuration settings. Thanks, Reza
