Question: Finding Medians with Decimals

I am trying to find the medians of several array SNPs that all hover around 1. I have tried grouping by gene and then inserting the median function for the specific column. I keep getting the error "Operation median expected number values but got ['0.012340232,0.97841597,1,0.992637..."
I have tried to concatenate the values and then take the median but I received the same error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
