Hello,

There is currently no built-in mechanism to do this. Instead, download the data then compress locally. These are the instructions for downloading larger datasets from Galaxy (wget, curl): https://wiki.galaxyproject.org/Support#Downloading_data

That said, this is a good enhancement idea. I created a ticket for developer review here that you can also follow: https://github.com/galaxyproject/galaxy/issues/2968

Thanks, Jen, Galaxy team

Hi Jennifer, I'm having trouble uploading new datasets with the Galaxy FTP tool. Is there any way you can tell me if I am out of room on Galaxy? I'm having trouble figuring out which part of the transfer is causing the problem. Thanks for your help Amy
