Question: how to generate fastQ format data to output for assembly

Trimming data should not alter the datatype. My guess is that you need to have a different or more specific type fastq datatype assigned. The version most Galaxy wraps require is fastqsanger. Here is how to confirm the current sub-type, transform to fastqsanger, or reassign the datatype to fastqsanger (sometimes all that is needed - but double check!):
