Question: local galaxy in Windows OS

Is it possible to use Windows OS comment-line to download and set up local Galaxy? 

Or do we really need to have  stg like Ubuntu to do it using Linux?

In addition, to keep it local, you could run a linux(like ubuntu) or biolinux (Galaxy pre-installed) virtualmachine in e.g. Virtualbox on your windows pc.

Another local option that gets updated more frequently than bioblinux is Bjoern's docker-galaxy-stable https://github.com/bgruening/docker-galaxy-stable. It could likely be used with boot2docker under Windows - https://docs.docker.com/installation/windows/.

Thank you, but do we need to learn Linux programming first to be able to run bioblinux or other local options for running Galaxy?

If you use the docker Image you don't need to learn Linux or a programming language.
