Is it possible to login to the public Galaxy server using a UNIX terminal? Thank you.
No, it is not, though maybe I misunderstand what you're asking.
Are you saying you'd like to use a browser like Lynx? Or that you want to ssh to the server for some reason? (I'm curious why).
I would like to SSH to the server. It is only for instructional purposes; I have students who will analyze a large sequence read dataset (for sequence alignment), and I would like to also train them in UNIX command line usage and scripting. I know that many functionalities are available through the portal (like alignment and replicate removal), but I was curious if there was a way to SSH to the server as well.
Ok, I see. This is definitely not possible.
A cloud instance would probably suit your needs for teaching (and we use them often for things like this): usegalaxy.org/cloud
Thank you. I think this will work well for our needs.
Great! Let me know if you have any questions, happy to help.
