Hey all,

I'm looking for a tool that could add the basepairs "TA" to the end of each of my sequences, as part of a workflow that improves their mapping. I can't find anything in the toolshed but it's a hard thing to search for. The files are in FASTA format, so if anyone knows of a tool for adding basepairs to the end of FASTA sequences, or a tool that adds characters to the end of each line & it can ignore lines starting with '>', either would work. (If not I'll write one myself, I just wanted to make sure I no one had written a tool like this before.)

Thanks much,
Kay

Hi Kay,

try the following: FASTA to tabular -> Add column to an existing dataset (TA) -> Merge Columns together (c2 and c3) -> Cut columns -> tabular to FASTA

I have also added this tipp to my small collection: https://github.com/bgruening/galaxy-tricks
