Hi, Galaxy admin

This seems to be a recurring issue as I've seen many people posted their questions. Now that I encounter the issue myself, and hence this post. Two quick questions -

(a) does the "error" disrupt any ongoing jobs (i.e. do we need to resubmit the jobs)

(b) any update on this issue? the most recent posting was ~ 4-5 weeks ago. (a side question - is there a place on Galaxy where we can find "updates" on issues like this)

Great many thanks !

Which galaxy revision are you running currently?   I believe a fix for this was included in the latest release, though I'll double-check and update this post accordingly.  Update:  Yes, this was fixed in a recent release.  Let me know if you're running an up-to-date galaxy and still see this.

No, users do not need to kill and restart jobs, there's no disruption.

I *think* the thread you're referring to does have a resolution saying that it was fixed and should be in the next update, but let me know if that's not the case and I'll update it.

You can always follow all development issues at https://trello.com/b/75c1kASa/galaxy-developmen.  More specifically, here's the card that was created from the last biostar post about this where you can see that this is in the latest release:  https://trello.com/c/5d6j4X5y/2236-bug-could-not-generate-url-for-history-contents

directly running galaxy from usegalaxy.org, so I assume it's the "latest" release ???

Ok, on usegalaxy.org this should be resolved.  It might be you're experiencing a different issue with the same symptoms, I'll try to take a look through the logs.

FYI, have NOT been prompted with any error message since the last one ~ 2 hr ago.

That's good to hear.  I've found your issue in the logs and we're taking a look and will get a fix out, but for the time being if this happens just refresh the page and keep on using Galaxy.  It's annoying, but harmless.
