Hi there

When I execute a workflow in batch and send the results to a new history, I have the option to give the new histories names.

However the names turn out to be:

  • whatever I type into the text field on data 1
  • whatever I type into the text field on data 2
  • whatever I type into the text field on data 3 etc.

Is there are way how I can use the file name here instead of the file index in the source history? So I want it to be:

  • whatever I type into the text field on filename1.fastq
  • whatever I type into the text field on filename2.fastq
  • whatever I type into the text field on filename3.fastq etc.

That would make it a lot easier to figure which sample went into which history.

Thanks a lot Ulf

Hello,

Yes, that is how the naming works. The history names cannot be interpreted from dataset names, but you could tag the input datasets (before running the workflow) or tag the new histories when they are first created.

This is how:

Thanks for your reply Jennifer. I think hashtags are indeed going to be very useful for this. Ulf
