Hi all,

Is there a way to limit jobs being run on a local instance of Galaxy per individual user? I saw this page: https://galaxyproject.org/admin/config/jobs/

There is a mention of registered_user_concurrent_jobs option on the bottom for limiting jobs. Does this option limit jobs based on the user that is signed in or does it limit based on who is running the server? After setting this limit to 4, I noticed that only 4 jobs are submitted even if these jobs were from different users.

If this limit is for all users, is there a way to limit jobs per individual real users?

Thanks!

double check, whether the right file is listed in the galax.ini file, e.g.:

job_config_file = config/job_conf.xml

As far as I know, a change in the job_conf.xml file requires a restart of the server

Also, depending of which version of galaxy you use, the syntax might be different, check: "job_conf.xml.sample_advanced"

Hi,

Thanks for the reply! The path of the job conf file is correctly listed in the galaxy.ini file and everything was restarted after the changes. We are currently using the latest version of Galaxy and the tags in the sample xml file match the ones listed on the wiki.

I saw this post:https://biostar.usegalaxy.org/p/16651/#16756 It seems like the person is saying that jobs are limited to the entire instance of galaxy and not the individuals. Not sure if this is reliable, as the user was not upvoted. Could you or someone else confirm this?

in Christophe's case, it turned out that the limitation was set by the system, and not galaxy

I haven't thought of that. I went back to check and my job scheduler (UGE) had a limit for resource usage which four jobs happen to entirely take up.

Thanks! :)
